Linda Shantz is an educator in the elementary panel, since 1990.  Her first 3 years of teaching were among the Inuit of Igloolik, Nunavut, and The Beausoleil First Nation on Christian Island in Georgian Bay.  There she learned first hand of how the leaders are but one member of the circle.  In her 26 years teaching in Ontario’s public education system she knows well the synchronistic feel when admin join their staff in the trenches to first gain understanding, and then to tackle a particular challenge together.  This idea was born out of decades of watching the disconnect between teachers (and students) on the ground, and well meaning ideas that come from outside the school, that don’t fit. It is time for all of us to own educational change by living it.
